Sean Deegan: Press & Reviews

With a vocal timbre that lands squarely between Barry Gibb and Al Stewart, Sean Deegan's 10 song record, "The Roads You Take", is a commercial pop collection that saves the best for last in the final track, "My Reason". That track, sweetly and with optimism paints a gorgeous commentary of life, 'the greatest gift that you can ever hold is the child within you that never grows old'. It also includes a unique appeal that veers away from the other 9 pop dramatic tunes. The CD, however, opens with "Give Me the News" - a medium-tempoed guitar based showcase for Deegan's tenor. The chorus is memorable as Deegan's impassioned request to be given the news from the one in his life that send anger - as he wishes for tenderness. The arrangement is dramatic. Track 4, "It only took a moment", describes how a simple phrase can damage an entire life. .'shattered into pieces impossible to mend, it only took a moment'. The overall message of the record lyrically is based in pain and difficulty in love. The environment, whether currently suffering or reflecting on the past, provides some of the greatest inspiration for Deegan as an artist and his sincerity comes through. Track 8, "Many Roads", is as close to the title track as is on the CD, and again pushes a learned wisdom and a resolve, 'i know it's oh so hard, and the road is long hard, the love you make and the hearts you break as you learn through your own mistakes, will depend on the road you take'. Overall the CD is a sweet vulnerable collection from this singer/songwriter musician.

Upon first listen, Sean’s unique tone jumps out above the musical compositions and successfully pulls listeners into his lyrical melodies. The emotional ballad “Find Your Way” best demonstrates Sean’s uplifting lyrics, captivating vocals, and delightful harmonies. Sean Deegan is a proper original singer songwriter wth Irish roots. He takes his influences from classic artists and this shows in his work. With the help of his partner Sharon a lo-fi album of heartfelt, tear jerking and beautiful ballads has been born. These songs will touch you whatever genre of music you like they are filled with real life issues and raw emotion that brings a lump to the listeners throat at the same time as lifting them up. Sean combines traditional
Irish tinged folk with modern acoustic pop/rock, lush strings
and warm uplifting almost gospel backing vocals. Truly wonderful !
Englishman Sean Deegan has been working at his craft as both a singer and song writer for a very long time, without ever stepping into the realm of a full time role in the music industry. Now, with several of his songs doing well in the UK Songwriting Competition, he is looking to a full time song-writing career and has recorded and released an album as a showcase of his work. Best described as melodic acoustic pop, Sean’s work has good breadth and diversity to it. Ease The Pain is clear, simple and to the point, just like a good pop song should be!
Have just been listening to 'Ease The Pain' and I really love it!!! It's so easy to listen to, peaceful, melodic and catchy. Awesome stuff!
